De Vereniging: Schermcentrum Noord
Schermen is al een heel oude sport en valt onder de categorie vechtsporten. Het is een stijlvolle sport die vraagt om inspanning van lichaam en geest. Daarom wordt schermen vaak ‘schaken met het lichaam” genoemd. Er zijn veel, heel veel redenen om met schermen te beginnen, maar er zijn nauwelijks redenen om ermee te stoppen. Je kunt op elke leeftijd beginnen met schermen en het je hele leven doen. De boeiende geschiedenis en het eigentijdse karakter maken schermen tot een aantrekkelijke sport.
Schermen is een individuele sport die in verenigingsverband wordt beoefend. Bij schermen gaat het om het duel, een gevecht van persoon tegen persoon , waarbij je probeert de tegenstander zo veel mogelijk te steken met je wapen zonder dat er een druppel bloed valt. Je bent namelijk goed beschermd met het masker, de handschoen en speciale schermkleding.
Voor de jeugd biedt schermen een creatieve manier om sportief en gedisciplineerd in een ‘gevecht’-situatie met een tegenstander om te gaan. Balans, snelheid, coördinatie en ook respect zijn sleutelwoorden en leren verliezen is net zo belangrijk als leren winnen. Uiteraard wordt vooral bij de jeugd het spelelement niet vergeten. Om de jongsten aan het schermen te binden wordt technisch en tactisch les gegeven met behulp van speelse leervormen.

Een leuke manier om kennis te maken met het schermen zijn de vier proeflessen voor 40 Euro. Je doet vier keer mee en na afloop bepaal je of het leuk genoeg is om lid te worden. Wanneer je proeflessen komt doen moet je zaalschoenen, een lange trainingsbroek en een shirt aandoen. De schermkledij stelt SCN ter beschiking. Neem ook wat te drinken mee voor bij de loper, want het kan er stevig aan toe gaan!

Lidmaatschap

Bij SCN kan iedereen vanaf zes jaar lid worden. De contributie is jaarlijks € 300,- per persoon. Wanneer er meerdere gezinsleden lid worden, krijgen zij een korting van 10 % per extra gezinslid. Om het schermen voor iedereen mogelijk te maken hebben we een goede samenwerking met het JeugdSportFonds.
Als lid van SCN kun je gebruik maken van de extra mogelijkheden die het SportCentrum biedt. Zo kun je deelnemen aan de conditie- en krachttrainingen die georganiseerd worden en kun je tegen een gereduceerd tarief deelnemen aan de bokstrainingen.

Wat je nog moet weten
KNAS
Wanneer je lid wordt van een schermvereniging word je ook automatisch lid van de Koninklijke Nederlandse Algemene Schermbond (KNAS). Het lidmaatschap van de KNAS is verplicht voor alle schermers in Nederland. Voor 2021 is dit, wanneer je jonger dan 21 jaar bent, € 30,50 en € 60,75 voor 21 jaar en ouder. Deze bijdrage wordt door SCN op de eerste kwartaalfactuur toegevoegd.
Opzeggen
Bij SCN kun je per kwartaal opzeggen. Om je lidmaatschap te beëindigen stuur je een email naar penningmeester@schermcentrumnoord.nl. Opzeggen bij de trainers is niet mogelijk. Je krijgt een bevestiging van de ledenadministratie, eventueel met het verzoek om nog openstaande contributie te voldoen. Als je verder gaat met schermen bij een andere vereniging kunnen wij je KNAS-lidmaatschap over laten zetten als je dit vermeld bij je opzegging.

Het bestuur
Het bestuur van SCN bestaat uit vijf enthousiaste leden. Het bestuur houdt zich bezig met de beleidsmatige zaken van de schermvereniging, het organiseren van (club)toernooien, het onderhouden van contacten met leden en andere schermverenigingen tot het draaien van bardiensten in de eigen kantine. Het bestuur kan altijd helpende handen gebruiken! Vind je het leuk om af en toe wat voor de vereniging te doen, laat het ons weten!

Net als bij alle andere verenigingen heeft SCN ook eigen clubkleding. Voor de komende jaren hebben wij gekozen voor het merk Nike. (zie pdf flyer) De clubkleding is niet verplicht.
